Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Sweepcheck app. Sweepcheck is published by an individual developer, referred to here as “the developer of Sweepcheck”, “we” or “us”. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
2. What Sweepcheck is
Sweepcheck helps you check a room, a car or a walk home: it listens for Bluetooth trackers, helps you find one and make it beep, guides you through what to do when your iPhone warns you about an item moving with you, labels the devices on the Wi-Fi you joined, guides a look for camera lenses, and lists smart glasses that announce themselves nearby. Every check says what it found, how sure it is, and what a phone can’t see.
- It is not a security service and does not replace the police, a lawyer, a support service or a professional search of a room or a car.
- It is not legal advice. A report the app makes records what you saw; whether it is accepted as evidence is for the people you show it to.
- It is not an emergency service. The app cannot call for help for you, and nobody else sees what it finds.
3. What a phone can and can’t find
An iPhone can only find what it can hear or see. Nothing found does not mean nothing is there, and the app never calls a place safe. In particular:
- Trackers. The app hears Bluetooth tags that announce themselves. It can’t hear a tag with a flat or removed battery, a tag that is switched off, or a device that does not use Bluetooth.
- GPS trackers. A phone can’t find a GPS tracker that reports over a mobile network. The car check shows where to look by hand.
- No distances. The finder says warmer, colder or steady as you walk. It does not measure how far a tag is.
- The sound. Make it beep works on AirTags and on tags that follow the Apple–Google standard. Tile, Samsung and some Chipolo tags can’t be made to beep from another phone.
- Cameras on the Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi check sees only devices on the network you joined. It can’t see cameras on another network or on their own hotspot, cameras recording to a card, or devices a guest network keeps apart. A “possible camera” is a guess, and is shown as one.
- The lens check is a guided look with the light and a filtered camera view, not a detector. It needs a line of sight.
- Smart glasses connected to their owner’s phone usually stay quiet, so they may not show.
- Still with you depends on iOS: it needs notifications and location, and iOS does not wake the app after you swipe it away from the app switcher, or after Airplane Mode or a Bluetooth toggle. AirTags and other Find My items are left to your iPhone’s own alerts. We make no promise of how soon you are told.
4. If you are in danger
If you are in danger now, call your local emergency number. In the app, Help lines lists services by country with their official pages. Services change their numbers and hours, and we cannot promise that every entry is still current or that a line will answer. If a number does not work, call your local emergency number.
5. Licence and Apple’s EULA
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as permitted by the App Store’s Usage Rules.
Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”) also applies to your use of the app. These Terms add to it. If they conflict, the Standard EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict. As the Standard EULA states, Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and we, not Apple, are responsible for its maintenance and support and for any claims relating to it.
The texts, illustrations and design of the app belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or reverse engineer the app or its content, except as the law or the Standard EULA allows.
6. What is free, what is Plus
Free, for good, before any paywall: the tracker scan, the finder and Make it beep, My iPhone warned me, the room guide, the car check, help lines, and a report of a found tracker or an alert.
Sweepcheck Plus adds: Still with you (the background check) and Watch this one, Wi-Fi device labels, the lens check, smart glasses nearby, and saved room, Wi-Fi and car checks.
7. Purchases
All purchases are made through Apple’s In-App Purchase and charged to your Apple Account. Prices are shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy; the US prices below are given for reference. The price on the screen is the price charged. There is no weekly plan and no free trial that turns into a charge. We never see your payment details. A purchase that is waiting for approval (Ask to Buy, for example) may be charged later, when it is approved.
| Product | US price | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Trip pass | $3.99, paid once | A non-renewing purchase. Plus for one week from the purchase. It never renews, and nothing more is charged. A pass bought while another is running adds its week after it. Not shared with your family. |
| Yearly plan | $19.99 a year | An auto-renewing subscription, with no free trial. It renews each year until you cancel. Shared with your family through Family Sharing. |
| Lifetime | $34.99, paid once | A one-time purchase. Plus stays unlocked for as long as the app is offered, with no further charge. Shared with your family through Family Sharing. |
The yearly plan
- The subscription renews automatically each year, at the price then in force, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that date.
- You cancel in your App Store account settings: on your iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sweepcheck. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Family Sharing
If you use Family Sharing, the yearly plan and the lifetime purchase are shared with the members of your family group, on their own devices, as Apple’s rules allow. The trip pass is not shared.
Refunds
Apple handles payments and refunds, and any right of withdrawal the law gives you is exercised with Apple. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
When a pass or a subscription ends
The Plus checks lock again. Reports you saved stay on your phone and stay readable, and everything that is free stays free.
Restoring
If you reinstall the app or change phone, Restore purchases (on the Plus screen, and in Settings and privacy → Plus) brings back what you bought with the same Apple Account.
8. Your checks and reports
What the app finds and the reports you save are yours. They stay on your iPhone; we have no access to them and claim no rights over them.
That also means we cannot recover them. They are not in your iPhone or iCloud backups. If you use Delete history, delete the app, or lose your phone, they are gone. Sharing a report as a PDF is the way to keep a copy.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app to follow, watch or harass another person;
- check a network or connect to a device you have no right to, or use the app against the law where you are;
- interfere with the app’s security, or resell the app or access to Plus.
10. Availability and changes to the app
We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop offering the app. What a check can find also depends on iOS and on the devices around you, which can change. If we ever stop offering the app, what it stored stays on your phone for as long as the app is installed.
11. Disclaimer
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the app will be uninterrupted or free of errors, that a check will find every device that is there, or that a label or a guess is right.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights that the consumer law of your country gives you and that cannot be set aside by agreement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data kept on your device, for a device a check did not find, or for decisions you make on the basis of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for Sweepcheck Plus in the twelve months before the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intent or gross negligence.
13. Termination
You can stop using Sweepcheck at any time by deleting the app; cancel a running subscription first (section 7). These Terms end when you stop using the app; sections 8, 11, 12 and 14 continue to apply.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the developer’s place of residence, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of those rules, and you may bring a claim before the courts of the country where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms when the app or the law changes. We will change the date at the top and, for a significant change, tell you in the app. A change never alters the price or the length of a period you have already paid for.
