Support
If you are in danger now, call your local emergency number. In the United States and Canada that is 911; 112 works in many countries. In the app, My iPhone warned me ends with “What to do next”, which lists help lines for your region.
Scan for trackers
- On Home, tap Trackers near me. The first time, your iPhone asks to use Bluetooth: allow it.
- Walk slowly around the room, the bag or the car, with the screen on. Hold the phone near bags, coats, seats and under furniture.
- Confirmed trackers come first, under Found. A guess is listed under Worth a check and is never shown as a find. For a possible AirTag, tap Check it for a quick check.
- If a tag is yours, tap Mark as mine, and it is marked Yours from then on.
The scan, the finder and the sound are free, with no account.
Find a tag and make it beep
- Tap a tracker, then Find it. The ring says warmer, colder or steady as you walk, with a hint of which way to turn. It does not give a distance.
- Tap Make it beep to play its sound, where the tag allows it, and tap Heard it when you hear it.
- When you have it, tap I found it. The app shows how to switch it off and offers to save a report (PDF), free.
My iPhone warned me
If iOS told you that an item is moving with you, tap My iPhone warned me on Home. It takes you, step by step, from the alert to the tag, then to what to do next: keep it and photograph it, how to switch it off, a dated report, and help lines for your region. It is free and works offline.
Check a room
On Home, tap Check this room. It is a guide to where cameras and trackers hide in a hotel room, a rental or a changing room, as a tick list, in a few minutes. It links to the tracker scan and, with Plus, to the Wi-Fi and lens checks. It can’t see inside a wall or an object you didn’t open.
Check a car
On Home, under More checks, tap Car check. It runs a Bluetooth sweep while you walk around the car, then a checklist of places to look by hand. A phone can’t find a GPS tracker that reports over a mobile network; the checklist shows where to look for one.
Still with you
Still with you (Plus) tells you if a Tile, SmartTag, Chipolo or Pebblebee seems to travel with you across several places. AirTags and other Find My items are left to your iPhone’s own alerts.
- On Home, tap Still with you and choose For this trip or Always on.
- Allow location and notifications when your iPhone asks. Places stay on your phone and are deleted after 7 days (30 for an alert).
- To keep an eye on one tag, open it in a scan and tap Watch this one.
iOS does not wake the app after you swipe it away from the app switcher, or after Airplane Mode or a Bluetooth toggle: the screen says so. It makes no promise of how soon you are told. Discreet notifications, in Settings and privacy, keeps the Lock Screen alert plain.
What each check can and can’t find
Sweepcheck says what it found, how sure it is, and what a phone can’t see. A guess is shown as a guess. It does not give distances and it never calls a place safe. Nothing found does not mean nothing is there.
| Check | What it can and can’t find |
|---|---|
| Trackers near me (free) | Can find: Bluetooth tags that announce themselves: AirTag (after a quick check you start), Tile, Samsung SmartTag, Google Find Hub tags, Chipolo, Pebblebee and tags on the Apple–Google standard. Confirmed ones come first. Can’t find: a tag with a flat battery, a tag that is switched off, and GPS trackers that report over a mobile network. |
| Finder and Make it beep (free) | Shows warmer, colder or steady as you walk, with a hint of which way to turn. It does not measure distance. The sound works on AirTags and on tags that follow the standard; Tile, Samsung and some Chipolo tags can’t be made to beep from another phone. |
| My iPhone warned me (free) | Takes you from the iOS alert to the tag, then to what to do next. Works offline. |
| Room guide (free) | Where cameras hide in a hotel room, a rental or a changing room, as a tick list. It can’t see inside a wall or an object you didn’t open. |
| Car check (free) | A Bluetooth sweep while you walk around the car, and a hand checklist. A phone can’t find a GPS tracker that reports over a mobile network; the checklist shows where to look by hand. |
| Still with you (Plus) | Tells you if a Tile, SmartTag, Chipolo or Pebblebee seems to travel with you across several places. AirTags and other Find My items are left to your iPhone’s own alerts. It needs notifications and location, and iOS does not wake the app after you swipe it away from the app switcher or after Airplane Mode or a Bluetooth toggle. |
| Wi-Fi cameras (Plus) | Can find: devices on the Wi-Fi you joined, labelled router, TV, printer, phone, speaker or possible camera, with how sure. Can’t find: cameras on another network or on their own hotspot, cameras recording to a card, and devices a guest network keeps apart. A “possible camera” may be anywhere on the network; ask the host what it is. |
| Lens check (Plus) | The flashlight and a filtered camera view, with a guide for looking for a lens. It is a guided look, not a detector, and it needs sight. |
| Smart glasses nearby (Plus) | Lists glasses that announce themselves over Bluetooth. Glasses connected to their owner’s phone usually stay quiet, so they won’t show here. |
Purchases and restoring
Sweepcheck Plus comes as a one-week trip pass that never renews, a yearly plan that renews until you cancel, and a lifetime purchase. Family Sharing works for the yearly plan and the lifetime purchase. The price on the screen is the price charged; there is no weekly plan and no trial that turns into a charge. The details are in the Terms of Use.
Restore purchases
- Open any Plus check, or the Plus screen, to reach the paywall, and choose Restore purchases under the buttons.
- Or open Settings and privacy at the foot of Home, then under Plus choose Restore purchases.
- Use the same Apple Account you bought with. A trip pass shows as active until its week ends.
Cancel or ask for a refund
Cancel the yearly plan in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or with Manage subscription in Settings and privacy. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The app cannot see or change your payment.
Delete your history
Open Settings and privacy at the foot of Home, then Delete history. Sightings and places are removed; reports are kept unless you also choose Delete history and reports, because a report can be evidence. A single report can be deleted from its own page with Delete this report. To keep a copy of a report, share it as a PDF first: nothing is in backups. Lock history and reports, in the same place, asks for Face ID or your passcode before they open.
Help lines
In the app, Settings and privacy has Help lines, by country, each with its official page and a Call or Text button. Help-line pages open inside the app and are not kept in Safari’s history. Calls show in your phone’s Recents and may sync to your other devices on the same Apple Account.
Something not working
- No trackers appear. Check that Bluetooth is on and that Sweepcheck is allowed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth. Walk slowly and keep the screen on.
- The Wi-Fi check shows few devices. Allow Local Network in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. Hotel and guest networks often keep devices apart, and the screen says so.
- An alert did not arrive. Still with you needs notifications and location, and an app that is still in the app switcher. See Still with you above.
- Plus does not show after buying. Use Restore purchases with the same Apple Account. A purchase waiting for approval (Ask to Buy) shows once it is approved.
